Judge's critiques

what a cracking type of dog, so very Italian in outline to my mind, not a lot of coat but what he has is correct & obviously appeals to me, well proportioned, quality dog with an excellent head & expression, strong neck & shoulders, correct topline & tailset with a docked tail, moved so sound on well boned legs & feet with excellent head carriage in profile, in excellent condition, he is well muscled & looked the part. - Pam Blay

If anybody wants to see a correct spinone head they should look at the winner of this class. His head is extraordinary and is literally a work of art, I think given time he will be a really good dog. He has the basic make and shape. Good topline, his rear angulation is exemplary. His coat and skin is fantastic. His neck is moderate, crested and muscular. He has fill in, plenty of bone and substance and is sound. One for the future. - Mike Gadsby

So much to like about this boy. The most glorious of melting, masculine expressions. His eye colour is rich with pigmentation to match. Head of balanced proportions comparing muzzle to skull length and width of skull. Definition through the skull, eyebrow and muzzle with strength in the head whilst avoiding any coarseness. Ear of correct set and length. Excellent strength in muzzle with large spongy nose and open nostrils. Well arched firmly set strong neck. Absolutely robust in build with excellent balance between depth in body and leg length. Strong boned. Excellent topline and underline with strength and depth through the body. Well built hindquarters with good definition in first and second thigh which are equally well muscled. Firm, strong hocks. In the run off I marginally preferred the front movement towards me of the winner but this boy is just starting to mature and will come together more as his developing musculature strengthens. Powerful, true-moving hindquarters. I liked him very much indeed. - Nicola Spencer

This w/o boy just stood out in this class. He is a well muscled chap who gives no doubt that he could go all day in the field. He has an excellent head, long and lean with correct planes and dimensions. He has the typical almost human expression that makes this breed so special. A square fellow, deep chested in front to correct topline and beautifully angled rear assembly. He moved in a typical Spinone trot around the ring and owned it! Presented in super hard condition and good coarse coat. A credit to his owners/breeders. A well deserved BD and delighted to see him go RBIS with the decision of the referee. - Morag McQuade
