Judge's critiques

the other end of the Standard in size but of the same stamp as my first place. Strong & masculine frame with plenty of width & depth. Good topline into nice croup & well angulated rear. Correct minimal tuck-up. Good bone & feet. Moved well with drive & was true coming & going. - Kim Parris

Or/Roan 2 years. Not the largest but wow! Exploded into the ring with a real "here I am" temperament. Needed more space to show his hard-not over lean-body with his correct length but close fitting coat nothing could be hidden. Nice if strong head good occiput, kind eyes full of mischief with good ear set. Strong shoulders with wide set withers. Great spring of rib giving good heart room. Correct to line rising over croup into a good tail set. Strong hind quarters with well let down hocks. A dog from a kennel that combines both the working and show elements and excels at both. A shame that being docked penalises him to not being shown more- a loss to us not him I'm sure. - Gina Gingell

So typical in his appearance with no exaggeration in any aspect. On the smaller end of the size scale for males but with everything in proportion and so very strong in all aspects of his build. His head is stunning with true balance to the skull and muzzle, desired shaping through the zygomatic arches and back skull. Correct rooflike structure in foreskull with definition through the medial furrow and occiput. Good natured grouch expression created through the rich ochre eye colour and complimentary pigmentation. Short, strong neck. Ample bone with strong, straight forelegs and well padded feet. Consistent depth through his trunk created by good depth and length to his ribbing. Short coupled with plenty strength through the loin and couplings. Well muscled all through. Very well constructed hindquarters with good definition in first and second thigh. He was so on form today, outstanding in his movement and balanced in every aspect of his stance and typical trotting action. - Nicola Spencer

w/o. Another strong workmanlike male from this kennel shown in superb physical condition which was reflected in his powerful driving movement around the ring to give him his second place. A well boned and well constructed frame covered by an excellent skin and tight fitting short coat. Masculine head, planes were OK, good ear set, but his eyes need to darken, but time is on his side, a young dog yet for limit and has some maturing to do. - Chris Guest

This is a dog who appeals. Not a big one, super head and darkest of eyes, correct oval bone, tight feet. Just the type I was looking for. He won on breed type and super movement, just drove off his hocks effortlessly. RCC. - Doreen Hardie
