We are fortunate enough to have travelled to the Spinoni country of origin to spectate (2002) and compete since 2004. Below are albums to document these trips, with some results linked where we have them. If we have used any images which you would like to be removed, please send us an email and we will happily credit or remove them.

RADUNO NATIONALE di PRIMAVERA &
TROFEO EMIDIO RUSTICALI 2018

Five dogs, 5 ecc., 2 x 1°, 2 x 2°, 1 x 3°. Years of love for this beautiful breed and so many achievements in their country of origin make the Sanjika Kennel a very happy one! On the second day competing for the Trofeo Emidio Rusticali at Piandispino (FC) S. Mayoka achieved a 1st place in batteria 3 under Judge Asioli with a grading of 'molto buono'. The beautiful 'point' was on a pair a of partridge. This completes success in both show ring and field on consecutive days (Bella e bravo). Especially pleasing to be graded on such a beautiful but difficult hunting area filled with Caprioli deer and hares as distractions leading to instant elimination.

At the show:.

Sanjika Jakira - Libera (f) (b/a). Ecc. , Sanjika Kokola - Veterani (f) (b/a) 1⁰ Ecc CAC , Varenne del Subasio Lavoro (m) (r/m). 2⁰ Ecc , Wolf del Subasio Campione (m) (r/m) 1⁰ Ecc

Summer handled both Jakira and Wolf, following in big sisters footsteps. Well done Summer, winning a Champions class at her first Italian show.

Following the show on Saturday, Jakira completed a PAV (Natural apptitude hunt test). This made a little more challenging by driving sleet and thunder and lightning. Bless her heart, her eyes widened somewhat, but she didn't miss a beat. An excellent run and was complimented by the judge. A hurried return to the hotel arriving at 7pm, change, then head out for a meal to celebrate the Derby win, of friend Moioli.

Sunday was the working trials in the area of Pian di Spino.

On arrival The CISp President handed me a framed certificate celebrating our b/r dog Sanjika Sciroccos successful achievement of becoming a Campione Bellezza (Show Champion with work qualification as you cannot make a champion in Italy without a work qualification)

48 dogs took part in the trial, forming 6 groups (batteria) each with expert judges.

Jakira, Wolf and Varenne were handled by me under renowned Bracco expert Guiseppe Colombo Manfroni.

Jakira hunted well and did all I asked of her, but unfortunately no bird was found, so no grade given.

Wolf hunted, somewhat reticent at the start but started to take more and more ground but with less drive than Jakira. He finished without a bird, but boy he made me work too hard.

Varenne had the final turn at number 9. He was a dream. We were mentally connected, practically blue-tooth, I only had to think where I wanted him and he went there. No bird but recalled for a second run along with Biodo and Perla handled by Giancotti and Luciano, when again he hunted his heart out. I couldn't have asked more but in the end, no bird, so no grading.

Immediately following the trial we headed for home accompanied by hitch-hiker Salla who we delivered to Milan as we headed northward and home via the Channel Tunnel. The End.

Thanks to all involved in the organisation of the events that make these international gatherings possible.

CISP RADUNO 2023

30th TROFEO MASSIMINO 2018

Sanjika Scirocco won the Bello e Bravo trophy for the combined highest score. Gaining a 3rd excellent at the working event 'prove'  and a 1st excellent with a res.CAC at the afternoons Raduno.

CISp RADUNO 2017

A glorious week away in the beautiful Italian countryside of both Umbria and Toscana where we competed in our 5th CISp Triennial Raduno at Ponsacco, Tuscany. We entered 8 dogs, who were all graded excellent and were all placed in their respective classes. All qualified to compete for the "Best Foreign Dog". 'Kokola' was chosen for the Best Bitch and 'SanSiro' for the Best Dog. 'Kokola' was awarded the wonderful handmade (by Salvatore La Spada) 'Walter Carucci Trophy' for winning. 'Mayoka' (Delta) won her Giovani class and was asked to compete for the Best Bitch in Show. Robyn then competed with 'Tiberius', 'Kokola', 'Mayoka' and 'SanSiro' for the best group and won this class as well. The next day Stuart competed at the Prova with 'Nyasa', 'Kokola' and 'Mayoka'. They all had good runs, the first 2 failed to find any birds. 14 month old Mayoka had a lovely point on a brace of partridge but sadly with her inexperience decided to chase them.

THE WORLD SHOW 2015

In June 2015 the World Dog Show was held in Milan, Italy. We had been very much aware of the show and Sally had previously visited as a spectator when it was held in Paris in 2011.

To us we decided that the opportunity to show at this event in Italy under Italian speciality Judges was a once in a lifetime opportunity. As a sweetener the organiser had allowed all Italian breed clubs to hold a championship show at the venue the day before the main event was held having travelled so far this represented excellent value and opportunity to show under two different Judges.

At the championship show the judge was Maria Grazia Poli. The World Show Judge was Doctor Luca Massimino.

We exhibited four dogs from our kennel on each of the two days These were Nemo del Subasio, Sanjika Nyasa, Mistral del Subasio, Sanjika Kokola and Sanjika Tiberius. The results were more than could be imagined. In the world show Nemo achieved the title "World Veteran" and "Best Opposite Sex", Kokola "World Junior Winner", and Tiberius "World Hope". Over both days Sanjika Nyasa was awarded two CAC's, so became an Italian Champion.

25th Trofeo Massimino 2013

An annual prove (trial) for continentali (Bracci/Spinoni) held over four days at the Rio Coverino sporting hotel in near the town of Civita Castellana just to the north of Rome.

This years event being the 25th anniversary, a raduno (show) was added to the normally busy working trials to make an especially busy event.

On this very important year we were fortunate to win "Best in Show" with Sanjika Quaglia.

16th Trofeo Massimino 2004

28th TROFEO MASSIMINO 2016

This year's Sanjika team were particularly young with the 'senior' being Kokola who was not quite 3 years of age. Despite this and with the always necessary good fortune of conditions, area/birds Kokola was able to achieve 1st excellent gradings on two consecutive days and went on to win the trophy. Probably needless to say we as a kennel are extremely happy at this success and wish to thank all those who have contributed in both bloodlines and in the organisation of the competition.

CISp RADUNO 2014

Once again we as a Kennel and family were very happy to attend and take part in this wonderful event organised by the Italian breed club, CISp.

As always this was an opportunity to see old friends and enthusiasts from around the world.

22nd Trofeo Massimino 2010

As in previous years Stuart and Robyn travelled the day and a half by road to this four day working event organised by Luca Massimino in Memory of his father Angelo. The journey to the event took them through France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and finally into Italy. On each day dogs are assessed working birds in their hunting, pointing and retrieving. The exception to the retrieving is the Friday, which is a no shooting day in Italy so instead each handler ‘salutes’ the bird as it flies with a starter pistol.

Our arrival at just after midnight in the town of Citta Di Castello (PG) near to our ‘Italian retreat’ was memorable on this occasion as on exiting the E45 motorway we were met by the local Carabinieri (police) with pistols drawn who initially took us to be some kind of foreign travelling criminals. The mood soon changed when the van was opened to reveal four friendly Spinoni.
